How the calculator works
- Whole-house mode: built-up area × floors → slab volume from thickness, beams 0.028 cum/sq ft, columns 0.02, footings by soil type (isolated / deep / raft); walls from 9"/4.5"/AAC choice; plaster 2.4× built-up; flooring bed.
- Element mode: length × breadth × depth × numbers in feet for slab, beams, columns, footings, walls, plaster and flooring — what a site engineer does on paper.
- Concrete mix: M20 (1:1.5:3) = 8 bags cement, 0.42 cum sand, 0.84 cum aggregate per cum; M25 (1:1:2) = 11 bags, 0.385, 0.77 (dry volume factor 1.54).
- Steel per cum: slab 80 kg, beam 130, column 160, footing 80 (raft 110) — split into dia: slab 8/10, beam 12/16 + 8 stirrups, column 16/20 + 8 ties, footing 10/12; rods 12 m; 8 mm 0.395 kg/m … 20 mm 2.466 kg/m.
- Masonry: 500 bricks + 1.3 bags + 0.27 cum sand per cum of 9" wall (1:6); AAC 55.5 blocks/cum; plaster 12 mm 1:4 = 1.35 bags + 5.3 cft sand per 100 sq ft.
- 5% wastage added; sand 1.6 t/cum, aggregate 1.5 t/cum, 1 cum = 35.3 cft, truck = 10 t.

Questions clients ask us
1,000 sq ft ghar me kitna cement, saria, balu, gitti, eent lagta hai?
Roughly 400 bags cement, 4,000 kg TMT, 50 t sand, 60 t aggregate and 8,000 bricks for a G+1 standard house — the calculator refines this by slab thickness, wall type and foundation.
Slab me kitna saria lagta hai?
About 80 kg per cum — a 20×30 ft, 5" slab (2.1 cum) needs ~170 kg: 8 mm and 10 mm bars at 150 mm c/c both ways. The element mode gives the rod count.
Column me kaun sa saria?
16 mm main bars (4–6 nos) with 8 mm ties at 150 mm c/c for G+1/G+2; 20 mm for stilt + 4 and commercial. About 160 kg per cum.
M20 aur M25 me kya farq?
M25 (1:1:2) has 11 bags cement per cum vs 8 for M20 and is our standard for all RCC; M20 is acceptable for small G+1 in Zone III.
Kya ye BOQ ke quantities hain?
No — these are planning-grade thumb rules (±10%). The written BOQ uses structural drawings and the bar-bending schedule; GharVistar provides both with the contract.
